The Very Thing

Tools used: TouchDesigner, Runway, ElevenLabs

The Very Thing is an interactive, non-linear film in which the viewer can switch narratives by pulling a physical lever in front of them. I used AI tools to create the feeling of a generated narrative, but it was actually pretty guided. I found that speech models make for a unique creative writing process, which you can feel in the final film.

There are 3 scenes, each are one take and written through a generative process of actor interviews and prompting, similar to my previous films. In this case, I leaned into the generative process further by using ML tools to manipulate the film in the edit, and then allowing part of the edit to be made during viewing.
